The Living Room is a charity that helps people and families affected by addiction.
On Saturday 23rd February there is the official launch event and they are holding an Open Day at the new centre, 11am to 1pm or 2pm to 4pm. Lady Veralum will be opening the centre. The Mayor of St Albans, The Bishop of St Albans and the High Sheriff are amongst many others attending.

A music director is on the lookout for unsigned talent in St Albans for a new charity album.
Lori West, director of St Albans Calling, is putting the CD together in an attempt to help local bands by giving them more attention in the local community, while raising cash for good causes.
An information evening is being held in the Rose and Crown Pub on Monday, February 11 from 7.30pm.

Residents will be able to dance the night away with their loved one this Valentine’s Day at a charity ball. The masquerade ball will be held in St Albans Town Hall in aid of Duchenne muscular dystrophy, a severe muscle wasting disease.
The fundraiser, which has been set up by the organisation Chapter 28, will be held on Thursday, February 14.
Dragon's Apprentice - Team Unite are holding a Quiz night on Friday 25th Jan at Roundwood Park School in Harpenden at 7pm – 11pm, tickets on the door will be £10 for adults and £5 children, this will include entertainment, a raffle and auction, with some great items on offer.

A woman who survived life in a concentration camp during the Second World War will make a speech as part of a service in St Albans to mark Holocaust Memorial Day.
Kitty Hart-Moxon, a Polish-British survivor of the Auschwitz-Birkenau camp, will talk to residents as part of the commemoration service on Sunday, January 27.

The First weekend, will take place between Saturday January, 26 and Sunday, January 27 and gives local people an opportunity to take advantage of free local attractions, special events, meal deals and competitions in the district. More information here
Volunteers are needed to help plant 7,000 trees in a St Albans park. The Highfield Park Trust is looking for residents to help out at a tree planting day on Sunday, January 20.
More than 20 different types of tree will be planted during the day, but the majority of the collection will be oak and hornbeam.
Volunteers are asked to bring a spade, and they are advised to wrap up warm and to wear suitable boots.
The planting session will run between 11am and 1pm.

Residents are being invited to have their say about what they love and hate about the Museum of St Albans.
As part of Occupy the Museum, people will be able to put up post-it notes around the building to share their views.
Councillor Mike Wakely, portfolio holder for sports, leisure and heritage at the council, said: "Occupy the Museum is a fun, free interactive event where you have the chance to have your say about the Museum of St Albans.
"The information from the event will be used to help us to continue to offer programmes that are of interest to everyone.
"It will also help us to ensure that the museum continues to reflect the community’s view on what is special about St Albans."
Visitors can put up their post-its from 6pm until midnight on Friday, January 25.
